How did we end up here? We've lived in Northern Illinois for 29 years. Way too long for this vegetarian! Thankfully, we're only 90 miles from Madison,WI.

2007 wrap up

It's the end of another year. Here's a link filled recap of knitting projects I completed during the year.

January:
*The beginning of my felted clog adventures(5 pairs completed during 2007!).

February:
*My first try at fair isle with the Center Square hat.

March:
*Cardigan for Arwen. I love how this cardigan turned out. I wish it wasn't so darn itchy!

May:
*Another fair isle hat,the winter sunrise hat.

*I knit along with the sexy knitters club and completed my Rusted Root t-shirt.

*Completed my Thorn and Thistle tank top.

June:
*Started an Etsy Shop. Yeah, it's not knitting but my bags are meant to house your knitting. I could have never expected in six months to have sewed up and sold over 400 of those little project bags.

July:
*Kathy and I had our own little kal with Tomato.

*Received my invitation to RAVELRY!!!

August:
*Another sexy knitters club kal with Fifi.

*Tried to knit up central park hoodie but this one is a bit small. I still liked all the cables!

October:
*I love my Bears colored We call them pirates hat. Too bad the Bears didn't have another winning season.

November:
*Knit up a ribbed alpaca scarf that was given to husband for his birthday. I've been wearing this one as it's super warm and he thinks it's too scratchy.

*Chance's my so called scarf knit with beautiful malabrigo. He loves it!

December:
*I finished up my blue clapotis. It's super squishy and warm but I will never,EVER try to drop stitches in malabrigo yarn again.

I wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!!

Your Christmas is Most Like: The Muppet Christmas Carol

You tend to reflect on Christmas past, present, and future...

And you also do a little singing.

Wednesday update

After what seems like forever, the sun came out today. For those living in warm, sunny climates you have no idea how happy sunshine can make a person. We've had endless days of gray. Dark gray, light gray, gray with freezing rain, sleet, and snow.
To escape the wintry mix of crappy weather my very patient family tagged along with me to Chicago over the weekend. Our first stop was Intelligensia Coffee. They offer tours of the roasting facility once a month. My eldest said it was like being in an "Unwrapped" episode. After drinking enough coffee to cause caffeine poisoning we headed over to the 2nd annual Renegade Craft Fair.

If you have an opportunity to catch one of these in your area,GO! It's not your typical craft fair. You can find everything from handbags to lamps. Most are one of a kind from very crafty/talented vendors.
After Renegade I took them by Chix With Stix Knitting shop in Forest Park,IL. It was such a cute shop and busy with holiday shoppers. It was cool to see my little sock bags for sale throughout the shop. My kids fell in love with the little chihuahua Howie, the manager's dog. They hung out on the comfy couch with the dog while I browsed through the yarn shelves.
Our day wasn't quite over as Fringe was having their going out of business sale Saturday too. I stopped by and looked through their yarn shelves too before heading home.

My guys are troopers for putting up with my depressed mood the past couple of weeks. Saturday's outing was just what I needed to get back to feeling better. Thank You!!

Beat the Winter Blahs

I'm not a huge swap participant but if you like these you might want to check out Michelle and Lesley's Hot Cocoa Swap. It is a swap for knitters to beat away their winter blahs.

The idea is that your swap recipient will receive their package during the bleakest part of winter, February, when a boost is needed most. Cocoa and yarn is such a yummy combo don't you think?

I won something.

Becky over at Fine Martial Fiber ran a football contest last week. I won a couple balls of Knit Picks sock yarn and 3 sets of double pointed needles. I knew all this useless football knowledge in my head would come in handy someday. So far in my fantasy football league, my team the Dekalb DPNs are 9-3. Not so bad.
