How did we end up here? We've lived in Northern Illinois for 29 years. Way too long for this vegetarian! Thankfully, we're only 90 miles from Madison,WI.

Trail Ride Time

The farm I volunteer for decided to treat us with a trail ride on Friday afternoon. It was one of those moments you wish could last forever. We had the park to ourselves.

We took a break halfway through our ride to eat dinner then headed back out on the trails.

The three of us volunteers had such a great time hanging out with each other and with our ponies.

Thank you Abbie and Ryan for taking us out!

Keeping Busy

Summertime means time for camp for the kiddos.
This weekend was the youngest son's theater camp finale. He did a fantastic job as "Grandpa Wolf" and had a great time memorizing his lines and learning songs and dances over his 2 week camp.

We went to the ballpark on Father's Day which was fun but really HOT!!

The kids decided at the beginning of June to move into separate bedrooms. For the last 4 years I've been spoiled with a room for all my schooling/sewing/crafting/practicing and was really sad to give it up. With a new tenant also meant new paint. I spent yesterday switching the walls from a bright green color to a light blue(youngest son's pick). It's never as easy as the home shows make it look but he's happy to have his own color and own space.

Youngest child has wanted to get up on a horse for over 2 years. Last week he finally started some riding/horsemanship lessons.

Little dude is super excited(as am I).

Fieldtrip

It seems we're always on a field-trip but hey that's where you learn the most, right? From "real-world" experiences? Yesterday we headed into Chicago to see a couple of Chicago's museums and take advantage of free admission day.
The first stop-The Field Museum. This place is so large it would take several(hundred) visits to take it all in.

Eldest child has been dying to see the new modern wing of the Art Institute so we headed over there. What a beautiful space. Even the lions are decked out in Blackhawk pride.

It was a perfect summer night in Chicago so we grabbed dinner and headed to Millennium Park to hear some live music. The skyline looked magical.
