How did we end up here? We've lived in Northern Illinois for 29 years. Way too long for this vegetarian! Thankfully, we're only 90 miles from Madison,WI.

Happy Anniversary to us

We always find something to celebrate! This trip, a 2 week cruise aboard the Emerald Princess, celebrated our 32 years together/28 married years ;)

We headed to Fort Lauderdale to escape another 2 weeks of winter in Illinois.

With an all-inclusive package for this trip! Hello drink package!

We started this cruise journey with two sea days. A nice way to ease into vacation. With fancy drinks at the Good Spirits bar.

There were 8 ports on this journey so we were excited to get to our first port, St Thomas. We took a taxi to the Red Hook Ferry and headed over to St. John for the day.

We headed over to the National Park and hit the trail to Honeymoon Beach for the day.

We set up our little shade and camped out for the day.

I set up my hammock for a nap in the afternoon after some snorkeling.

The next day we were in St. Kitts.

We used some of our onboard credit for an excursion through the ship on a cruise to Nevis and a snorkel stop along the way.

The next day we were in the beautiful island of Dominica. We booked a two stop snorkel through Viator website. It was neat to see but unfortunately it looked like this area had way too many visitors as underwater life was non-existent here.

The next day we were in St. Lucia. Our scuba port! We booked two dives with Dive Fair Helen Dive shop. Unfortunately we lost our SeaLife camera while diving so our pics of our dives are just a memory. So much life on the reefs here. We would love to get back underwater here again in the future.

The next day we were in Grenada. We hopped aboard a water taxi right by the port.

We spent this beautiful day on Grand Anse beach.

On Palm Sunday we had another beach day in Barbados. First a quick stop at the port liquor store for some local rum. Then we took a taxi to Carlisle Bay Beach for the day.

We booked a snorkel from a vendor on the beach and saw turtles, tarpons, and an eagle ray! There are six ship wrecks in this bay and we were able to snorkel over two of them, the Bajan Queen and the Eilon.

We had a day at sea before arriving in Aruba. We used more onboard credit for another snorkel through the ship. On one of our stops we came upon a fish bait ball with a million little fish swimming by.

Our next snorkel stop was the Antilla, the largest shipwreck in the Caribbean. The sea was rough and the current swift so we didn't spend much time in the water at this stop.

We watched a beautiful sunset as we sailed away from Aruba.

Our final port was beautiful Bonaire. We took a water taxi over to Klein Bonaire for the day. We did an hour long drift snorkel along the reef surrounding this section of Klein Bonaire.

This neso shade was a new item for this trip and boy was it a lifesaver. It was a bit challenging with the winds this day on Klein Bonaire but this little island has no shade. We ended up staying until the last water taxi of the day thanks to this little shaded camp spot.

The water here is magical. I could stay here for a month!

I drank just a few beers on the beach that day.

We had a relaxing two days left at sea. Which meant lots of knitting on deck.
I started and finished a shawl during this trip.

And worked on an ocean colored sweater.

On Good Friday we spent lots of time hanging out on the aft deck with our mocktails enjoying the temps and the seaview.

On the final morning we were up early to catch the full moon going down in Fort Lauderdale.

And just like that it was time to say goodbye to the sea and summer weather.

We could see our ship below our airplane as we were leaving Fort Lauderdale.

It was our first time in Detroit airport. Didn't realize how big this airport was! But we made our connecting flight with a few minutes to spare.

Cheers to more adventures together.
