It's only 952 miles!
Road Trip!!! There once was a time where a road trip sounded like a great idea. But driving almost a thousand miles in March from Northern Illinois without a weather incident was slim to none.
My sweetheart had booked us on a one week cruise to the Western Caribbean leaving out of New Orleans for spring break.
We were trying to drive straight though without a hotel stay but at around Midnight we stopped in Jackson,MS because the weather was terrible. So we stopped to get five hours of sleep and to wait out the storm.
We made it to rainy New Orleans the next morning and boarded the Carnival dream.
Our first stop was Roatan Honduras. We booked a two tank dive through the ship with Black Pearl Divers. It was warm but rainy and overcast the entire day.
After our dives we headed to the beach for a couple of drinks. Look how rainy it was!
The next day we were in Belize. We booked another two tank dive through the ship with Aqua Scuba Belize. The dive boat picked us up right from the cruise ship. It was still 45 minutes by boat to get to our dive sites.
At least the weather was not as rainy this day so visibility was much better than the previous day's dives.
The next day we were in Cozumel Mexico and decided to spend the day relaxing at the beach at Carlos and Charlie's Bar. Chips, Salsa, and guacamole for them and a bucket of beer for me.
Finally we had our first day of full sun for this trip, day 5 of our 7 day trip!
It felt wonderful!
The ship was packed with many colleges running the same spring break week! We had a fantastic room on the ship with a balcony. Finn set up his study space here.
It was a nice, quiet spot to enjoy my cup of morning coffee.
And do some knitting...
It was nice to take a break from Illinois and this winter weather that just doesn't seem to want to go away.
