Nearing the end

I tried on my Fifi sweater this morning. Right now it's at my waist. I could bind off now if I were in my 20's and hadn't had any kids yet. I'm going to add 4 more inches of length(32 more rows) and then I'll be able to wear it out of the house. Other than it being too short right now it fits great. Oh and I need to finish the sleeves but I think I can finish it up this week.

Ravelry is such a great site. There are so many inspiring pictures of knitted items. I've added tons of patterns to my queue. Kathy is working on a dishcloth that I've been wanting to make for a while now. Seeing how nice hers is turning out I decided yesterday to cast one on. I hope to be able to knit up a set of these for gifts. They're really pretty, easy to customize(color wise)and work up fast.

Potter knitting

This is the extent of my Harry Potter book premier knitting...

It's the Hip house scarf from Charmed Knits. It's the only thing I could whip up with scraps and would take very little time to start and finish as I can't quite get the "planning" thing down very well. I've only known of the book release date for months now.

My son won a raffle at the local library and gets to pick up his copy of Deathly Hallows tomorrow. My husband is planning on buying a copy tonight at midnight. It will be a very quiet house this weekend. Even a muggle can enjoy the quiet a Harry Potter book brings. I'm looking forward to it.

No plan

A week ago I turned a year older. Kathy accompanied me to the local yarn store and bought me a skein of yarn. Thank you Kathy!! My first skein of bamboo yarn. Finally I have a skein of yarn where I don't have a clue what I'm going to make out of it.

I really want to quit!

I'm thinking the Fifi top is really frustrating me and knitting shouldn't be this darn stressful. Last week I swapped the front and back for the sleeves(don't ask!). This week I apparently can't follow directions at all. For the center panel in the lower bodice it clearly states "arrange rib pattern so that there is a P2 column on either side of central panel". Here's what mine looks like.....

I guess I really didn't want that much symmetry in my sweater as the right side clearly doesn't have the P2 ribbing adjacent to the central panel. DANG IT!!! I can't believe I have to rip this blasted thing back again. Clearly it's time for another project that I can enjoy instead of curse at.

My Etsy shop is cruising along. I'll soon see some of my bags paired up with fabulous hand dyed yarn and homemade stitch markers in two shops, White Oak Studio and Zen Yarn Garden. I feel like I've met so many great knitters in the past month. That's what I love about this knitting "community". You really feel like your connected somehow and yet you've never met face to face.

New project

I started a new top(Fifi) over the weekend and everything seemed to be cruising along just fine.

I stopped knitting to put all these stitches on waste yarn to make sure the sleeves were the right size. I've even followed their suggestion of making the cables without using a cable needle. Fast forward 10 rows into the bodice portion when I realize I somehow turned my knitting so my front and back became my sleeves. Do'h! I'm sure it has nothing to do with the constant multi tasking I tried to accomplish as I was trying to knit on this. So I ripped it back the 10 rows and stashed it away until I can devote all my attention to figuring out how to do this correctly.
